Job Description

The Surgical Technologist extern reports to the nurse manager. Under direct supervision of a Certified Surgical Tech/Scrub nurse, the extern functions as a member of the operating room team, preparing sterile supplies and equipment used in surgical procedures and performing appropriate room duties involved with direct patient care, adhering to established procedural guidelines. This position demonstrates knowledge and skills required to provide care and service appropriate to the level of patient development, with consideration of the needs of patients’ families.
