Job summary

Virtua Health in Voorhees Township, NJ is hiring a Sterile Processing Technician to support infection control by preparing and distributing sterile surgical instruments and patient care equipment across OR, L&D and endoscopy. You will ensure proper cleaning, disinfection, packaging, and documentation for each item.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED and CRCST/CBSPD certification within 6 months of employment, with experience in sterile processing preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• CRCST/CBSPD certification within 6 months of employment is required.
• Post-secondary sterile processing training or CRCST prep is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares, inspects and assembles surgical instruments, powered surgical equipment, and endoscopes into instrument trays or packages of individual items for sterilization.
• Collects, cleans, disinfects patient care equipment and surgical instruments from clinical units, OR, L&D and other invasive areas.
• Assists in the orientation and training of new hires.
• Operates, monitors and documents biological and mechanical results of decontamination and sterilization equipment.
• Delivers patient care equipment, inventories carts, replenishes supplies for department/OR Case Cart System, and distributes clean and sterile equipment.
• Transports soiled and sterile surgical instrumentation between facilities.

Job Summary

Supports Infection Control by collecting, cleaning, disinfecting and distributing portable patient care equipment that has been properly prepared, documented and inspected for use at the bedside in the care of our patients. Responsible for cleaning, decontaminating, sterilizing, and distributing medical and surgical instrumentation for use in patient care by the surgical team in the Operating Rooms, Labor & Delivery, and at the bedside or department e.g. Endoscopy where the invasive procedure is performed.

Position Responsibilities

• Prepares, inspects and assembles surgical instruments, powered surgical equipment, and endoscopes into instrument trays or packages of individual items for sterilization.
• Collects, cleans, disinfects patient care equipment and surgical instruments collected from clinical units, the O.R., L&D and other areas performing invasive procedures.
• Assists in the orientation and training of new hires.
• Operates, monitors and documents biological and mechanical results of decontamination and sterilization equipment.
• Delivers patient care equipment, takes inventory of specialty carts and replenishes supplies for department and centralized O.R. Case Cart System. Prepares and distributes clean and sterile equipment and supplies.
• Transports soiled and sterile surgical instrumentation between facilities.

Position Qualifications Required

• Required Experience: Previous sterile processing experience preferred.
• Required Education: High School Diploma or Graduate Equivalent Diploma (GED).
• Successful completion of a sterile processing course taken at an accredited or state-licensed institution offering post-secondary, professional, vocational or adult education or successful completion of a program or course designed to prepare students for the CRCST certification examination.
• Training / Certification / Licensure: CRCST/CBSPD Certification required within 6 months of employment, CER preferred

Salary: $21.85 - $32.83 Hourly
