Job summary

Pratt & Whitney is seeking a Quality Engineer to lead modernization efforts for the F135 program, acting as the Quality Lead within IPMT and guiding new technology integration and process improvements.

You will collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and QA teams to ensure manufacturability, inspection readiness, and robust quality controls across redesigned components, using model-based methods and advanced analytics.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience with 8+ years in Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, Project Management, Quality, or related field.

  • Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Responsibilities

  • Serve as Quality Lead for the F135 Modernization Project, ensuring alignment with program objectives and quality standards.

  • Provide quality insights to support DFM and DFI principles for manufacturability and inspection.

  • Support evaluation and redesign of feedback loops to drive continuous improvement and efficiency.
  • Support Quality Engineering for Class I/II engineering changes and ensure compliance.
  • Act as SME for quality processes and provide guidance and training.

Position Overview

We are seeking a Quality Engineer (QE) to support modernization within the Cold Center Module Center, advancing F135 IBR capabilities through new technologies, equipment, and processes such as Athena and Model-Based methodologies. In this role, you will serve as the Quality Point of Contact within the IPMT, integrating advanced technologies into our processes and ensuring that solutions are aligned across the organization. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to optimize processes, elevate quality, and implement sustainable improvements. Strong knowledge of quality systems, experience with data analysis, and the ability to query enterprise database systems are essential.

What You Will Do
  • Serve as the Quality Lead for the F135 Modernization Project, ensuring alignment with program objectives and quality standards throughout the redesign and modernization efforts.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to evaluate and implement new equipment and cutting-edge technologies, including Airfoil 2.0 and model-based processes.
  • Provide quality insights and recommendations to support Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Inspect-ability (DFI) principles, ensuring manufacturability and effective inspection processes in new designs.
  • Identify, analyze, and resolve quality issues related to F135 modernization trials, implementing corrective and preventive actions as necessary.
  • Partner with engineering teams to develop and validate robust inspection methodologies for new and redesigned components.
  • Support the evaluation and redesign of feedback loops based on current state process capability to drive continuous improvement and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Support Quality Engineering functions for Class I or II engineering changes, ensuring compliance with quality standards and specifications.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for quality-related processes, providing guidance and training to team members and stakeholders as needed.

Qualifications You Must Have
  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) with 8 years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, Project Management, Quality, or a related field; or a master’s degree with 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive continuous improvement and deliver measurable product quality improvements.
  • Strong organizational and priority management skills.
  • Proven ability to influence and lead cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent knowledge of MS office computer software including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Qualifications We Prefer
  • Experience in aerospace manufacturing and inspection processes.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt certification or equivalent.
  • Hands‑on experience with SAP and Solumina in a production environment.
  • Familiarity with CMM inspection processes and nonconforming material management.
  • Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Experience with Model-Based Definition formats such as STEP 242, QIF, and JT.

This position is classified as: Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products. The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
