Postdoctoral Scholars are invited to conduct research in one or more of the following departments and disciplines:

• Biology and Marine Biology
• Chemistry and Biochemistry
• Earth and Ocean Sciences
• Physics and Physical Oceanography
• Computer Science
• Mathematics and Statistics

The primary responsibilities include conducting research, overseeing projects and personnel, project management, assistance with proposals and manuscripts, data acquisition, computational results interpretation, and data analysis, both in field and laboratory settings. Scholars will collaborate with academic departments and various university units.

Postdoctoral Scholar Responsibilities

• Have a primary faculty mentor.
• Develop an Individual Development Plan (IDP) in coordination with the mentor.
• Participate in professional development programming offered through the University.

Appointment Description

Appointments are term‑limited based on funding availability, typically 12‑month full‑time terms, with a maximum of five years. Term appointments may be extended depending on funding and researcher performance.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate in one of the listed science fields earned before the appointment start date but no more than five (5) years prior. Exceptions to the five‑year limit may be waived.
