Job summary

JLG, an Oshkosh company, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer Intern to assist the Customer Support Engineering team. You will design, model and test mechanical systems and work on a range of projects from routine tasks to complex analyses.

You will gain experience with Creo Parametric and other CAD tools, contribute to ECN/BOM updates, and collaborate with global engineering resources to support manufacturing, supply chain and operations.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering with GPA 3.0 or higher.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience or interest in mechanical design and SAE teams is a plus.
• Familiarity with Creo Parametric, Pro-E, CATIA is advantageous.

In this role, you will support the Customer Support Engineering team on a variety of key projects and initiatives, ranging from routine engineering tasks to more complex analytical projects.YOUR IMPACTThese duties are not meant to be all-inclusive and other duties may be assigned:Design, model and test new mechanical systems that integrate with a JLG’s.Research and execute on continuous improvement request (CIR’s) to support manufacturing, supply chain, and customer feedback/operations.Work with global engineering resources to prepare/revise/review vehicle component layouts using CAD (i.e. Creo Parametric)Create and manage ECN’s (Engineering Change Notices) using the PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) system.Update bill of materials in the PDM (Product Data Management) system to reflect product changes.Follow project on the assembly floor for prototype, pilot, or production build and provide technical assistance.Generate engineering calculations of weight distribution, stress analysis, performance estimations, etc.Consult with suppliers, customers, and internal departments to find solutions to problems.Perform or assist in the testing of complete vehicles or vehicle components.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSStudent working towards a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or other related engineering field.Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.STANDOUT QUALIFICATIONSGood oral and written communication skills.Previous internship experience or work-related experience.Previous experience or heightened interest in mechanical design.Experience in extracurricular activities outside academic requirements (SAE teams, etc..)Experience using Creo Parametric, Pro-E, CATIA or a similar CAD system is a plus.Understanding of basic steel and sheet metal fabrication principlesKnowledge of construction industry and equipment used.Strong mechanical aptitudeWORKING CONDITIONSThe following represents general working conditions for this office-based role.
