Fermilab is seeking a staff-level Cryogenic Engineer in the Applied Superconducting and Technology Division to support existing cryogenic systems and growing project needs in Batavia, IL. The role calls for hands-on operation of helium cryogenic systems, development of procedures, and cross-functional collaboration.

Ideal candidates possess a BS in Engineering with 4+ years of experience or an MS/PhD in Engineering.

Qualifications

  • BS in Engineering with 4+ years of engineering experience or 2+ years with MS/PhD earned at an accredited institution.
  • MS/PhD in Engineering is preferred.
  • Strong background in engineering thermodynamics, fluid dynamics and heat transfer is required.

Responsibilities

  • Operate helium cryogenic systems and ensure reliable operations.
  • Develop and improve operating procedures, troubleshoot system problems.
  • Coordinate maintenance plans and respond to alarms.
  • Perform thermal, hydraulic and structural analyses for projects and cryogenic process design.
  • Collaborate with staff to verify system performance and communicate findings.

The expected hiring range for this position is:$88,800.00-$116,900.00.Please note that the pay range information is a general guideline only.
