Job summary

The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is a premier cancer research and care institution focused on advancing cryoEM and structural biology. The Research Scientist will drive cryoEM data collection, analysis, and method development while collaborating across multidisciplinary teams.

Ideal candidates hold a Master’s in a natural sciences field; PhD preferred. Responsibilities include leadership, mentoring, and developing computational tools to advance research workflows at UT MD

Qualifications

  • Education in structural biology or cryoEM
  • Experience with cryoEM workflows and data processing
  • Mentoring researchers and collaborating across teams

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and execute cancer-focused structural biology projects using cryoEM and related approaches.
  • Develop and optimize cryoEM specimen preparation workflows.
  • Assess samples, prepare grids, vitrify, screen, and optimize specimen quality.
  • Coordinate microscope screening activities and high-throughput data collection.
  • Process single-particle cryoEM datasets with established methods.
  • Interpret structural results with biochemical, biophysical, and functional data.
  • Maintain accurate experimental records and computational documentation.
  • Apply best practices in cryoEM, structural biology, and data management.
