Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the training, instruction, and conditioning of athletes with assistant coaches.
  • Communicate with the Activities Director regarding team questions and concerns.
  • Develop and organize effective practices that teach league skills.
  • Demonstrate good sportsmanship and fair play per the Coach's Code of Ethics.
  • Adhere to MSHSL and NFHS rules and guidelines.
  • Provide for health, safety, and well-being of athletes at practices and games.
  • Establish relationships with athletes and parents.
  • Coordinate equipment distribution and return with the equipment manager.
  • Coordinate post-season reporting, awards, and banquet planning as needed.
  • Actively recruit at middle and high schools.
  • Participate in required District and MSHSL trainings.
  • Participate in off-season clinics and program activities.
  • Provide leadership to assistant coaches and the program.
  • Other duties as assigned.

STIPEND:

$4,007 - $5,049 depending on experience

POSITION SUMMARY:

The head coach position is responsible for providing leadership, guidance and instruction to student athletes within the program. The head coach is responsible for establishing the goals and direction of the program and coordinating with assistant coaches and activities staff. The head coach is responsible for the health, safety and welfare of every student athlete participating on the team.

St. Cloud Public Schools has a tradition of excellence and a history of accomplishment. We are seeking committed and accomplished educational professionals who are looking to coach in lead or support roles in our extra-curricular programs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Coordinate the training, instruction, and conditioning of athletes with assistant coaches
  • Communicate with the Activities Director regarding team questions and concerns
  • Member of the MSHCA
  • Develop and organize effective practices for athletes that teach skills needed to compete in our conference
  • Demonstrate and generate, among staff and players, an attitude of good sportsmanship and fair play by adhering to the "Coach's Code of Ethics" and our sportsmanship guidelines
  • Adhere to the rules set forth by the MSHSL and the NFHS
  • Provide for the health, safety, and well-being of team members at practices, games, and transportation to and from games
  • Establish and maintain appropriate relationships with athletes and parents
  • Coordinate with the equipment manager on the distribution and collection of equipment on a timely basis, informing athletes of their responsibility for the use and return of athletic equipment/uniforms
  • Coordinate with the athletic administrative assistant in post-season reporting, awards/recognition protocols, and banquet planning as needed
  • Actively recruit at the middle school and high school levels
  • Participate in required District and MSHSL training and education
  • Participate in and coordinate off-season clinics, camps and program activities
  • Provide leadership and direction to assistant coaches and the overall program
  • Other duties as assigned
