Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Bridge communication between North America, Japan HQ, and international stakeholders.

Overview

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Engineering Coordination Manager is responsible for connecting people, projects, and engineering organizations to ensure effective execution of engineering activities across the business. This role serves as a key liaison between regional engineering teams, global stakeholders, customers, and cross-functional departments to promote consistent communication, resource alignment, project visibility, and technical collaboration.The Engineering Coordination Manager facilitates coordination among engineering disciplines and business functions to support timely project execution, standardization of engineering practices, issue resolution, and continuous improvement initiatives. This position plays a critical role in bridging organizational, cultural, and geographic boundaries, particularly between North American operations and global engineering partners, to ensure alignment of priorities, objectives, and engineering deliverables.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Coordinate engineering activities between regional and global engineering organizations to ensure alignment of objectives, priorities, schedules, and technical expectations.
  • Serve as a primary communication bridge between North America, Japan headquarters, and other international stakeholders.
  • Facilitate engineering reviews, meetings, action item tracking, and follow-up activities to promote accountability and timely resolution of issues.
  • Support engineering resource planning and prioritization across multiple projects and initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Project Management, Installation, Service, Quality, Manufacturing, and Production Control teams to ensure engineering support requirements are understood and addressed.
  • Monitor engineering project status and maintain visibility of key milestones, risks, constraints, and escalation items.
  • Coordinate engineering support for customer projects, proposals, RFQs, and strategic initiatives.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of engineering processes, standards, documentation, and best practices.
  • Promote knowledge sharing and collaboration across engineering teams and regions.
  • Support the identification, evaluation, and mitigation of technical and organizational risks impacting engineering activities.
  • Organize and communicate engineering performance metrics, project dashboards, and status reports for management review.

Support executive leadership by providing visibility into engineering workload, priorities, organizational challenges, and improvement opportunities.

Participate in customer meetings, internal reviews, and cross-functional planning sessions as required.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS and ABILITIES

  • Business-level proficiency in Japanese and English is required.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Technology, Business, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in engineering, project management, technical operations, or related fields.
  • Semiconductor, automation, material handling, manufacturing, or industrial equipment experience required.
  • Experience coordinating cross-functional teams and multiple concurrent projects.
  • Experience working with global engineering organizations and international stakeholders preferred.

CERTIFICATIONS

  • Professional Engineer license, project management certification, functional safety certification, or other relevant technical certification preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of applicable safety certification processes, regulatory requirements, and compliance practices for industrial or automated equipment preferred.

KNOWLEDGE (Equipment, Tools, Principles, Software, Math, etc.)

  • Engineering project lifecycle and execution processes.
  • Engineering change management and document control practices.
  • Resource planning and project coordination methodologies.
  • Risk management and problem-solving techniques.
  • Engineering, project management, and business software applications.
  • Knowledge of automated material handling systems, industrial automation, or related technologies preferred.
  • Familiarity with equipment safety standards, certification requirements, risk assessment practices, and corrective action processes.
  • Proficiency with common business and engineering software tools, including Microsoft Office applications, Autodesk products, and applicable design, documentation, or project management systems.
