Job summary

Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA seeks an investigator to respond to cruelty reports, prepare case files, and provide testimony as required. You will work with law enforcement, document evidence, and educate the public on animal welfare.

Strong interviewing, documentation, and familiarity with Chameleon are essential, as is a valid CA driver’s license. Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma, prior animal control experience or related training, and the ability to work irregular hours

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 2+ years as Animal Control/Humane Officer or 4 years officer experience.
• Completion of Humane Academy or similar training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Receive, evaluate, respond to complaints of animal cruelty.
• Enter case information into Chameleon and maintain logs.
• Impound or assist with impoundment of animals as needed.
• Collect and store evidence; document crime scenes and assist with exams.
