Job summary

Marathon Petroleum Corporation in Findlay, Ohio is seeking an Accounting Supervisor to support Crude Oil accounting activities within Operations Accounting. The role ensures timely recording of transactions, journal entries, and general ledger integrity while coordinating with Trading, Scheduling, Treasury, and IT.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's degree in Accounting with at least six years of accounting experience, demonstrates leadership, and has experience with RightAngle and SAP.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
• Minimum six (6) years of Accounting or related experience required.
• Demonstrates leadership capabilities and the ability to collaborate effectively across various teams.
• RightAngle and SAP experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for personnel, process, and procedures in the workgroup; ensuring accounting activities are recorded timely and effectively.
• Collaborates with Manager to establish, monitor, and achieve annual goals and metrics.
• Develops and coaches employees on performance; provides leadership and expertise across business processes and systems.
• Works with internal and external parties to resolve issues.
• Partners with IT and other units to implement system upgrades and improvements.
• Monitors internal controls to verify effectiveness and SOX compliance.
• Participates in monthly accounting closeout; performs reviews and offers guidance on accounting topics.
• Creates and records journal entries; maintains the general ledger and reconciles accounts.
• Supports accounting processes by managing requirements, system enhancements, and accounting standards.
• Ensures proper execution of controls and retention in accordance with policy.
