Job summary

The Cedar Rapids Community School District is seeking a part-time crossing guard to ensure the safety of students at designated street crossings. You will wear the City-provided safety vest and carry a STOP sign during all shifts, working pre- and post-school hours as scheduled. Training and weather-appropriate duties are required.

Ideal candidates demonstrate responsibility, strong communication, and the ability to supervise and engage with young people in varied weather conditions.

Work Hours

Shifts not to exceed 48 minutes before and after school (0.8).

Physical Demands

The physical demands of this job include frequently standing, walking, using hands and fingers to handle a portable stop sign, talking and hearing, and regularly bending or twisting at the neck and trunk. Working Environment

The work environment is moderately loud with vehicle traffic and residential equipment noise. Employees will work during varied weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold, and may be required to stand or walk on surfaces covered with ice and/or snow. Salary and Benefits

Hourly rate: $13.90 per hour.
Benefit: Prorated personal illness leave only.
