General, orthopedic, cardiac, pediatrics, obstetrics, and more. CRNAs may concentrate on pediatrics, obstetrics, and cardiovascular cases.

Responsibilities

• Pre‑anesthesia assessment
• Obtain and/or verify patient consent
• Discuss anesthetic options and risks with the patient
• Induce, maintain, and emerge from anesthesia
• Monitor the patient’s physiological condition
• Perform clinical intervention as needed

Requirements

• Current license as a registered professional nurse
• Graduation from an accredited nurse anesthesia education program
• Certified or recertified by the AANA Council on Certification of Nurse Anesthetists
