Qualifications

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.

Aptive Resources is searching for a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) for the VA Houston Healthcare System to play a vital role in the delivery of anesthesia care to patients across various departments and situations. This position requires collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to formulate anesthesia plans, perform pre-anesthetic evaluations, administer anesthesia during procedures, and provide comprehensive intra- and post-operative care. Additionally, as a member of the ‘Code Blue’ Team, the CRNA responds to emergency situations, providing critical airway management, resuscitation, and administering emergency fluids and medications as needed.

Schedule will be part time varied from 8hr, 10hr, and 12hr shifts both days and nights. Below is the shift start and end times.

8 Hour Shifts:

7AM to 3 PM weekdays

10 Hour Shifts:

7AM to 5 PM weekdays

12 Hour Shifts:

  • 7 AM to 7 PM weekends and federal Holidays (main emphasis)
  • 7 AM to 7PM weekdays
  • 7 PM to 7 AM week ends, weekdays, and federal Holidays (if needed)

Primary Responsibilities

  • Conduct pre-anesthetic evaluations and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop anesthesia plans.
  • Administer various forms of anesthesia to patients undergoing surgical procedures.
  • Provide intra- and post-operative anesthesia care, monitoring patient vital signs and adjusting anesthesia as necessary.
  • Serve as a member of the ‘Code Blue’ Team, responding to emergency situations throughout the facility.
  • Perform emergency airway management, resuscitation, and administer emergency fluids and medications.
  • Establish effective working relationships with all levels of staff within the MEDVAMC.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, policies, and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing school approved by the appropriate accrediting agency.
  • Graduate of an accredited nurse anesthesia educational program approved by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA).
  • Current, full active and unrestricted licensure as a registered nurse in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the U.S. or in the District of Columbia.
  • Minimum two (2) years’ experience as a CRNA, with recent experience within the last 12 months.
  • Certification by the Council of Certification of Nurse Anesthetists.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.
  • Ability to meet physical requirements to perform a full range of duties without physical restrictions.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
  • Evidence of completion of required licensure, credentials, training, and competencies.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and maintain required vaccinations.
