Job summary

Grand Itasca Clinic & Hospital in Grand Rapids, Minnesota, seeks a Casual Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) to join our Anesthesiology team. The role offers as-needed scheduling and a broad range of anesthesia services in an independent CRNA practice environment.

The CRNA will collaborate with surgical and clinical teams to deliver safe, high-quality anesthesia care and support staffing needs across the department.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nurse anesthesia educational program.
• Current certification or recertification by the NBCRNA.
• Current Minnesota APRN and RN licensure, or ability to obtain prior to start.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications, or ability to obtain as required.
• Ability to meet Grand Itasca Clinic & Hospital's medical staff credentialing and privileging requirements.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre-anesthetic evaluations and develop individualized anesthesia care plans.
• Select and administer appropriate anesthetic agents and techniques.
• Provide general, regional, and monitored anesthesia care.
• Perform endotracheal intubation and extubation.
• Insert intravenous catheters and invasive monitoring catheters.
• Perform arterial punctures and interpret arterial blood gases.
• Monitor and manage patients' physiologic responses to anesthesia.
• Perform ultrasound-guided peripheral nerve blocks.
• Provide obstetric anesthesia, including epidural and intrathecal placement.
• Respond to anesthesia-related emergencies and assist with emergency care throughout the hospital.
• Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, surgical teams, and other healthcare professionals to ensure safe, effective patient care.
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with organizational policies and professional standards.

Position Responsibilities

The Casual CRNA provides comprehensive anesthesia care throughout the perioperative period, including:

• Performing pre-anesthetic evaluations and developing individualized anesthesia care plans

• Selecting and administering appropriate anesthetic agents and techniques

• Providing general, regional, and monitored anesthesia care

• Performing endotracheal intubation and extubation

• Inserting intravenous catheters and invasive monitoring catheters

• Performing arterial punctures and interpreting arterial blood gases

• Monitoring and managing patients' physiologic responses to anesthesia

• Performing ultrasound-guided peripheral nerve blocks

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• Graduate of an accredited nurse anesthesia educational program

• Current certification or recertification by the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA)

• Current Minnesota APRN and RN licensure, or ability to obtain prior to start

• Current BLS and ACLS certifications, or ability to obtain as required

• Ability to meet Grand Itasca Clinic & Hospital's medical staff credentialing and privileging requirements

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience practicing as a CRNA in a hospital setting

• Experience with regional and obstetric anesthesia

• Demonstrated ability to practice independently

• Strong clinical judgment, communication, and teamwork skills
