Job summary

One GI in Mentor, OH seeks a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist to provide anesthesia care for ambulatory procedures in a fast-paced setting. The CRNA will perform pre-operative assessments, develop anesthetic plans, administer anesthesia, monitor patients, and ensure safety throughout the operative and recovery phases.

The ideal candidate will hold an RN license, a Nurse Anesthesia program graduate, CRNA certification, ACLS, and active state credentials.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Administer anesthesia per protocols and standards of practice.
  • Monitor patients with monitoring devices during procedures.
  • Manage respiration and cardiac function throughout procedures.
  • Perform IV insertion, airway management, intubation, and stabilization as needed.
  • Administer medications and document responses accurately.
  • Maintain and check anesthesia equipment and supplies.

Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA)

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive pre-operative anesthesia assessments, including interviewing and examining patients, reviewing clinical data, evaluating anesthesia risks, and selecting an appropriate anesthetic plan.
  • Communicate with the Physician regarding the planned anesthesia care and any changes in the patient's condition or status.
  • Administer anesthesia in accordance with clinical privileges, established protocols, and accepted standards of anesthesia practice.
  • Monitor, interpret, and evaluate information obtained from patient monitoring devices throughout procedures.
  • Continuously monitor respiratory and cardiac function and protect the patient's life functions and vital organs.
  • Perform IV insertion, airway management, intubation, hemodynamic stabilization, and related anesthesia procedures in routine and acute medical situations.
  • Manage patients receiving sedation and respond appropriately to changes in their clinical condition.
  • Prepare and administer medications and maintain accurate documentation of all medications administered, including patient response.
  • Maintain anesthesia equipment in safe, clean, and operational condition.
  • Perform required safety checks of anesthesia equipment, medications, and supplies.
  • Maintain accurate accounting and reconciliation of controlled substances.
  • Complete anesthesia records and pre-anesthesia evaluation documentation accurately and timely.
  • Transport patients to the procedure room and safely transfer patients to the recovery area.
  • Provide a comprehensive report to recovery staff during patient handoff.
  • Monitor and evaluate patients during the post-operative period and conduct post-procedure assessments.
  • Assist in the management of post-operative complications and urgent clinical situations, including nausea and vomiting, seizures, abdominal pain, airway concerns, and other complications.
  • Manage patients with implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICDs) in accordance with established clinical protocols.
  • Assist with difficult IV access and restart IVs when necessary.
  • Stock anesthesia carts and complete end-of-day medication and drug reconciliation.
  • Participate in the economical and appropriate utilization of medications, equipment, and supplies.
  • Participate in the facility's Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) program, including peer review and quarterly CQI meetings.
  • Complete occurrence/incident reports when indicated.
  • Promote and maintain a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors and take appropriate measures to prevent patient injury.
  • Perform other anesthesia-related duties as assigned and within the scope of practice.
Education & Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Graduation from an approved Registered Nurse (RN) program.
  • Graduation from an approved Nurse Anesthesia program.
  • Current certification as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA).
    Current Registered Nurse (RN) and Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) licensure in the applicable state.
  • Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
  • Must maintain all required licenses, certifications, and credentials in good standing throughout employment.
Work Environment

This position is based in an Ambulatory Surgery Center and primarily supports patients undergoing endoscopic procedures. The CRNA must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented clinical environment and responding effectively to routine and emergent patient-care situations.
