Job summary

CPG is seeking a Critical Systems Technician III, Battery in Ashburn, VA to perform battery installations, maintenance, and repairs. You will lead battery cabinet changes, conduct load testing, and work with contractors while ensuring safety and quality on projects.

The role requires 5 years battery service experience, strong documentation skills, and willingness to travel 30%+. US citizenship is required with security clearance preferred.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma and 5 years battery service experience.
  • Experience with battery replacements, maintenance and diagnostics.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures and electrical theory.

Responsibilities

  • Perform battery replacements and new installations.
  • Perform preventative maintenance, fault diagnosis, and repairs of battery systems with minimal supervision.
  • Lead cabinet change-outs and load testing.
  • Install flooded cell batteries.
  • Lead jobs with multiple crew members of varying skill levels.
  • Communicate with contractors, partners, and clients to meet schedule and budget.
  • Document services and provide recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Promote safety and contribute to safety policy improvements.
  • Follow MOPs and use appropriate tools; maintain equipment.
  • Travel 30% or more.

Position: Critical Systems Technician III, Battery

Location: Ashburn, VA

Pay Range: $65,013 - $97,580 per year

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Experienced and able to perform battery replacements and new installations.
  • Experienced and able to perform preventative maintenance, trouble diagnosis, routine and emergency repairs of all types of battery systems without supervision and with minimal disruption to customer.
  • Ability to perform multiple battery cabinet change-outs, and load testing without supervision.
  • Ability to perform flooded cell installations.
  • Ability to lead jobs with multiple crew members of various skill levels.
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with general contractors, sub-contractors, partners, and clients to complete projects on schedule and within budget.
  • Ability to provide full documentation of services performed along with recommendations for corrective and improvement actions for relay to sales team,NOC, management, and client.
  • Leader and primary example of safety in the field, as well as give feedback for improvement of our company safety policies, practices, and implementations.
  • Follow operational, maintenance and emergency methods of procedure (MOPs).
  • Ability to use hand and general maintenance tools and equipment.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function.
  • Other duties as assigned by Services Management.
  • Travel 30% or more
  • Must be a US citizen
  • Able to obtain security clearance is preferred
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Experience
  • High School Diploma & 5 years battery service experience
  • Clean driving records a must
  • Safe operation of department equipment
  • Elementary fix/repair techniques based on directed supervision
  • Knowledge of or ability to learn basic AC/DC theory, electronic components, and electronic circuitry
Complete training on:
  • Use of Digital multimeter for AC and DC diagnostic measurements
  • Use of Amp Clamp and flexible CT in DC and AC measures
  • Use of AlberCellcorderfor use as a battery testing and maintenance tool for a multitude of various battery designs and chemistries
  • Show understanding of proper use of:
  • Isolation devices to control available voltage potentials.
  • Necessary use of Arc-Flash suit and PPE.
  • Show competency in the connections of series, parallel, and series-parallel battery strings.
  • Understand torque values, torque-mark application, and visual inspection of completed battery cabinet installations.
Computer Skills
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office including: Word, Excel.
Certificates and Licenses
  • OSHA 10-hour certification
  • NFPA-70E Safety Training

  • No supervisory responsibilities
Physical Demands
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; Standing and walking is required. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee must lift and carry up to 50 - 70 pounds. The employee must occasionally lift and move up to 100 pounds.
