Job summary

SpaceX in Long Beach, CA seeks a Critical Lift & Transport Technician (Falcon 9) to operate crawler and hydraulic cranes, rig loads precisely, and support crane inspections and maintenance. The role requires NCCCO certification and 5+ years of crane/rigging experience, with willingness to travel between Long Beach and Vandenberg Space Force Base.

You will work day shifts with possible overtime, contributing to safe, efficient lift operations in a challenging, fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Operate crawler cranes and other crane types (e.g., Tadano ATF 100G-4/130G-5, MLC300, LR11000, LR1300, LTR1100).
• Precisely place non-replaceable loads in designated areas using crane and multi-point rigging.
• Support inspection and maintenance of hydraulic and crawler cranes.
• Tilt, dip and turn suspended loads to maneuver around obstacles with multi-point rigging.
• Perform various rigging challenges.
• Assist with rigging and driving forklifts as part of crane-cab duties.

CRITICAL LIFT & TRANSPORT TECHNICIAN (FALCON 9)

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Operate different types of cranes/crawler cranes (Tadano ATF 100G-4, ATF 130G-5, MLC300, LR11000, LR1300, LTR1100)
• Precisely place non-replaceable loads in specified areas with crane and dual crane lifts
• Support inspection and maintenance of hydraulic and crawler cranes
• Tilt, dip and turn suspended loads to maneuver over, under and/or around obstacles using multi‑point rigging techniques
• Perform different rigging challenges
• Assist with rigging and driving forklifts as part of crane‑cab duties

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or equivalency certificate
• National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators (NCCCO) certification (LBC‑TLL)

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• 5+ years of experience operating crawler cranes and hydraulic cranes
• 5+ years of experience in rigging
• Experience working with delicate lifting operations (e.g., wind farms, power plants, oil refinery industry)
• Experience with tear‑down and build of crawler cranes
• NCCER/NCCCO rigging certification
• Experience with a variety of rigging equipment – shackles, straps, slings, rope, hoists
• Ability to calculate and determine appropriate lifting equipment
• Strong working knowledge of lifting signals and communications
• Ability to rapidly change roles/responsibilities while working in a high‑paced, challenging work environment

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to work the following shift, overtime, and weekends as needed:
  • Day Shift: 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM, Monday – Friday
• Ability to pass Air Force background check for Vandenberg Space Force Base
• Must be willing to support frequent work travel between the Port of Long Beach and Vandenberg Space Force Base
• Valid driver’s license (class “B” or better)
• Ability to perform job duties that require standing, kneeling, crouching, twisting upper body, working in cramped positions, climbing hand‑over‑hand, lifting 50 lbs., and working on ladders/lifts at elevated heights
• Ability to work in an environment requiring exposure to fumes, odors, and noise
• On‑the‑job (OJT) training will be required

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Pay Range:
Level 1: $33.00 – $41.75
Level 2: $37.50 – $47.25
Level 3: $41.75 – $52.75

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case‑by‑case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job‑related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX.
