Job summary

Flexential Corp. seeks a Critical Infrastructure Engineer to perform preventative and corrective maintenance of electrical, mechanical, and HVAC systems across data centers.

The role ensures 99.999% uptime and strict SLA adherence, with hands-on training for Data Center Technicians and ongoing vendor management. Qualifications

  • 2 years of data center experience.
  • 4+ years of root cause analysis and troubleshooting.
  • Experience working with building automation.
  • 4+ years of experience in a critical infrastructure environment.
  • Knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems in data centers (feeders, transformers, generators, switchgear, UPS, ATS, PDU, chillers, pumps, AHU, CRAH).
  • Applicable military experience.
  • Applicable trade experience.

Responsibilities

  • 24x7 facility on-call responsibility.
  • Monitor and maintain operations, maintenance and repair of mission-critical equipment to achieve 99.999% uptime and adhere to SLAs.
  • Vendor relationship management.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering specs, project plans and other technical documents.
  • Drive change toward operational excellence goals.
  • Identify constraints and propose solutions.
  • Assist in disaster recovery drills.
  • Assist in commissioning efforts.
  • Maintain AHJ requirements.
  • Assist with power provisioning for customer orders and electrical modifications.
  • Occasional off-hours and weekend maintenance.
  • Prepare reports on customer utilization (space and power).
  • Prepare Method of Procedures (MOP) & Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Perform facility rounds and monitor equipment; ensure cleanliness.

Job description

The Critical Infrastructure Engineer is responsibilities for utilizing advanced skills to perform preventative and corrective maintenance of all electrical, mechanical, and HVAC equipment for all data center(s) assigned and maintaining mission-critical uptime of 99.999% or higher.

Other responsibilities include vendor management, scheduling and documentation control. Must build and maintain a strong working relationship with the Data Center Technicians and provide hands-on training as required.

Key Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions
  • 24x7 facility on-call responsibility.
  • Monitor and maintain the operations, maintenance and repair of all mission-critical equipment and systems supporting 24x7 data center operators to achieve 99.999% uptime and 100% compliance with all customer SLAs.
  • Vendor relationship management.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering specifications, project plans and other technical documents.
  • Drive change toward operational excellence goals.
  • Identify constraints and propose solutions.
  • Assist in disaster recovery “dry run” exercises.
  • Assist in commissioning efforts.
  • Maintain AHJ requirements.
  • Maintain and implement change windows per company policies.
  • Assist in the provisioning of power for customer orders and other electrical modifications as assigned while maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Assist with off-hours and weekend maintenance activities when required.
  • Assist with reports on customer utilization, including space and power.
  • Be able to read and prepare Method of Procedures (MOP) & Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for all maintenance and operational aspects of the data center.
  • Perform the assigned facility(s) rounds to ensure proper equipment operation, aesthetics, and cleanliness.
  • Monitoring/alerting of facility equipment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Required Qualifications
  • 2 Years of data center experience.
  • 4+ years of experience with root cause analysis and troubleshooting/problem solving.
  • Experience working with building automation.
  • 4+ years of experience within a critical infrastructure environment.
  • An understanding of the electrical and mechanical systems involved in critical data center operations, including systems such as feeders, transformers, generators, switchgear, UPS systems, ATS units, PDU units, chillers, pumps, air handling units, and CRAH units.
  • Applicable military experience.
  • Applicable trade experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Electrical or mechanical certifications (Associates degree or higher in a relevant engineering discipline).
  • 5+ years of experience working in data centers with an emphasis on building and equipment operation.
  • Meets/exceeds functional/technical depth and complexity.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Walk or stand for 50% of the time.
  • Moderate or advanced keyboard usage.
  • Lift 50 lbs.
  • Travel 5% of the time.

Base Pay Range: Hourly salary range offered for this position is estimated to be $43.00 - $45.00. However, the actual pay range depends on each candidate’s experience, location, and qualifications.
