Job summary

DataOne in Vineland, New Jersey, is seeking a Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing Technician to join our data center operations. The role combines hands-on maintenance of critical facility systems—electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and HVAC—with rapid incident response and routine preventive care to keep mission-critical equipment running smoothly.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED; technical training preferred.
  • Journeyman or Master License in Electrical or Mechanical.
  • 2–4 years facility maintenance experience, preferably in data centers, hospitals, or manufacturing.
  • Ability to read schematics and technical diagrams; strong troubleshooting skills.
  • Willingness to perform physically demanding maintenance in a mission-critical environment.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain electrical gear including switchgear, UPS, ATS, transformers and generators.
  • Maintain mechanical infrastructure including chillers, dry coolers, FHU, CDU, CRAH units, and HVAC systems.
  • Inspect and service pumps, valves, heat exchangers, and related controls.
  • Lead diagnostics during infrastructure faults; coordinate with vendors; document actions.

Job Title: Critical Facility Engineer - Mechanical / Electrical
Job Description:

The Data Center Facility Operations Engineer ensures optimal performance of the building infrastructure by maintaining and troubleshooting critical systems including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC. This role supports uninterrupted operation of mission-critical equipment in high-availability environments, responding swiftly to incidents, and conducting preventative maintenance safely and efficiently. This position involves both hands-on work and coordination with internal stakeholders, vendors, and automation platforms.

This is a physically hands-on technician role. The successful candidate will be actively involved in the day-to-day maintenance and operation of critical facility systems while working with mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC equipment. Key Responsibilities
Operations & Maintenance:
  • Electrical equipment including switchgear, breakers, UPS, ATS, transformers and generators.
  • Mechanical infrastructure including chillers, dry coolers, FHU, CDU, CRAH units, and HVAC systems.
  • Inspect and service mechanical components such as pumps, motors, heat exchangers, valves, and associated controls.
  • Plumbing systems including domestic water supply, chiller plant, and associated pipes, valves and in-rack liquid cooling components.
  • Perform routine hands-on maintenance tasks including changing air filters, cleaning pump strainers, replacing pumps or pump shaft seals, replacing condenser fan motors, and replenishing salt in water softeners.
  • Perform general facility cleaning and housekeeping as needed to maintain a safe, organized, and efficient operating environment.
Preventative & Predictive Maintenance:
  • Execute and optimize PM programs using CMMS tools.
  • Analyze performance trends for early detection of degradation or failure.
  • Interface with OEMs and vendors for calibration, diagnostics, and part replacements.
Troubleshooting & Incident Response:
  • Lead diagnostics during infrastructure faults; complete root cause analysis reports.
  • Escalate issues as needed and support incident resolution within SLA parameters.
  • Document all technical findings, repair actions, and risk mitigation steps.
Compliance & Vendor Coordination:
  • Ensure operations adhere to local code, internal policy, and manufacturer specifications.
  • Escort vendors, review scope of work, and verify completion.
  • Participate in audits, fire/life safety inspections, and sustainability reporting.
Continuous Improvement & Safety:
  • Identifying and Addressing Safety Hazards.
  • Standardizing procedures and practicing emergency response plans.
  • Support commissioning and integrated systems testing.

This opportunity is a full-time onsite position supporting a 24/7 Tier III mission-critical facility and requires a 12-hour rotating shift schedule with an on-call rotation.

  • Education – High school diploma or GED required; technical training or trade certification highly preferred (electrical, HVAC, plumbing, or mechanical).
  • Journeyman or Master License in Electrical or Mechanical.
  • Experience – 2–4 years in facility maintenance, preferably in data centers, hospitals, or manufacturing.
  • Skills – Hands-on troubleshooting, vendor coordination, change management support, ability to read schematics and technical diagrams, and willingness to perform physically demanding maintenance tasks in a mission-critical environment.
  • Certifications – EPA Universal (for HVAC), Electrical Journeyman license, OSHA 10/30, NFPA-70E, trade certifications (plumbing or mechanical).
Training & Development Opportunities
