Job summary

Skybox Critical Operations is seeking a skilled Critical Facilities Technician II Night to maintain data center uptime, oversee power and cooling, and drive continuous improvements with a safety-first mindset.

You will work 12-hour night shifts, collaborate with the Lead Technician, and help install, test, and document procedures while adhering to change control. A path for growth exists within a dynamic, high-growth environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2–3 years in mission critical environments preferred.
  • Experience with building electrical, mechanical, BMS, and fire systems preferred.
  • Electrical or mechanical license (HVAC) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain data center equipment to ensure 100% uptime.
  • Oversee power, cooling, and environmental conditions in data halls.
  • Manage preventive maintenance and inspections using a CMMS.
  • Create, revise, and execute operating procedures and PM inspections.
  • Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues and escalate as needed.
  • Respond to emergencies and ensure complete recovery.
  • Assist with installations and change control activities.
  • Coordinate with contractors and maintain facility data.
  • Follow Skybox policies and safety regulations.
  • Support training and construction/commissioning projects as needed.
  • Respect on-call rotation and night-shift service desk commitments.

JOIN OUR MISSION:

As we continue to expand our operations, we're searching for a skilled Critical Facilities Technician II Night to join our team.

YOUR ROLE:

The Critical Facilities Technician II Night (CFT2N) will report directly to the Lead Critical Facilities Technician. The CFT2N is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the data center to enable maximum efficiency without disturbance to business for our customers. This role participates with an unwavering positive attitude and commitment to safety and reliability within the data center during a night shift. The CFT2N drives continual improvements to the operational excellence of the data center by adhering to company standards, client requirements and industry best practices. This person has a mindset of consistent learning and development as they help create a more efficient mission critical environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Operate and maintain critical and non-critical equipment and systems to ensure 100% uptime.
  • Oversee power, cooling, and environmental conditions within data halls.
  • Manage planned and unplanned work, including preventive maintenance, using a CMMS.
  • Assist in creating, revising, and executing operating procedures and PM inspections.
  • Troubleshoot and document electrical and mechanical issues, resolve them quickly, and elevate them appropriately.
  • Manage and respond to emergencies and critical issues for complete recovery.
  • Assist with physical and logical installations and adhere to change control activities.
  • Handle assigned tasks efficiently and effectively manage/escort external contractors.
  • Follow all Skybox policies, procedures, and safety laws, and maintain accurate facility data.
  • Assist with general facility operations, training, and construction/commissioning projects as needed.
  • Able to fulfill Service Level Agreement requirement to man service desk and respond in the appropriate time to calls or service requests in order cure any problems during night shift.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
  • Required to work 12-hour night shifts and/or participate in on-call rotation.
  • Work in both indoor and outdoor environments with moderate to loud noise levels
  • Weekend work based on shift to ensure optimal critical facility environment
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Prior military or technical school training, preferred
  • 2-3 years of experience working in mission critical environments, preferred
  • Experience with building electrical, mechanical, BMS and fire systems, preferred
  • Electrical or mechanical license (HVAC), preferred
