Job summary

ATS Automation, Inc. invites professionals to join their building automation and energy management team. You will work on projects spanning control systems, energy efficiency, and performance optimization, interfacing with clients and project teams.

The role combines office work with site visits across varied facilities. The ideal candidate has an engineering degree and experience with DDC/PLC programming, a proactive communication style, and a passion for continuous learning.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent.
  • Strong understanding of building systems and controls.
  • Experience with DDC/PLC programming a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze system performance at campus level with accurate documentation.
  • Analyze building control and mechanical system performance across levels.
  • Develop project-specific programming to optimize efficiency and performance.
  • Build front-ends for end-users to interface with the system.
  • Interface with customers, subcontractors, suppliers and project team.
  • Program DDC and PLC systems to meet project specs.
  • Track project financials via monthly audits.
  • Contribute to company standards and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for analyzing system performance at a complete systems and campus level, ensuring documentation is accurate and complete
  • Provide analysis of building control and mechanical system performance at multiple levels
  • Create project‑specific programming solutions to optimize building efficiency and performance
  • Build custom front‑ends for end‑users to interface with your system
  • Interface directly with customers, subcontractors, suppliers, and other members of the project team
  • Programming of complex DDC (Direct Digital Controls) and PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) systems to meet project specifications and mechanical systems requirements
  • Develop your knowledge of project financials tracking through monthly audits and end of project reviews
  • Provide feedback on company‑wide standards and participate in continuous improvement initiatives

Background and Experiences That Will Set You Up for Success
  • Degree in Engineering – Mechanical and Electrical Engineering are most common, but other disciplines are welcomed, too
  • Exposure to electronics and basic electrical circuits
  • Experience with basic programming concepts
  • Practice working with mechanical systems
  • Knowledge of DDC (direct digital control) theory and applications
Job Details You Should Know
  • Base salary for this position ranges from $68,000 - $124,000 and is based on experience and tenure
  • This is a full‑time, exempt position. Typical work days are Monday‑Friday
  • Local travel is required up to 50‑percent of the time and mileage is reimbursable
  • This position requires a combination of working in an office environment and routine visits to project jobsites up to 50% of working hours. Project jobsites present typical construction and outdoor conditions that require the use of personal protective equipment for safety purposes. Must be comfortable climbing a ladder. Small repetitive motions and use of small tools is included.
