Job summary

Colorado Animal Specialty & Emergency (CASE) in Boulder, CO seeks a Registered Veterinary Technician for the Critical Care department. The role includes triage of emergencies, ICU monitoring, advanced nursing tasks, and collaboration with specialists to deliver top-tier patient care.

Qualifications

  • Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) with at least 2 years of applicable experience.
  • At least 1 year of experience within a specialty veterinary hospital preferred.
  • Safely handle, lift, and restrain dogs/cats; stand for extended periods.
  • Perform venipuncture and place peripheral IV catheters using aseptic technique.
  • Communicate effectively with technicians, assistants, doctors, and staff.
  • Fluent English skills (speaking & reading) are required; multilingual is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide care for unstable/critically ill patients and triage emergencies.
  • Demonstrate competence in advanced veterinary calculations for dosages and CRIs.
  • Collect, process, and report laboratory samples and run CBCs and chemistries.
  • Monitor vitals, manage anesthesia induction and recovery, and assist with procedures.
  • Administer emergency drugs and blood products under supervision.
  • Admit and discharge patients and educate clients; schedule appointments.
  • Maintain ICU equipment and supplies and ensure infection control.
