Job description

Position Objective

Contributes to the provision of high quality, cost effective health care through direct care of patients and collaboration with other health team members.

Essential Job Duties

• Participates in patient care data collection and unit-specific treatments as directed by staff nurse and in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures, including IVs, phlebotomy, 12‑lead EKG, vital signs, wound care, skin care, oral care, trach care; performs other functions as delegated such as venipuncture, IV insertion, specimen collection; reports abnormal observations to assigned RN/charge nurse; utilizes aseptic technique for Foley catheter insertion.
• Processes written medical staff orders in accordance with established policy and procedure; labels blood tubes/lab specimens correctly 100%; communicates STAT or urgent orders to the care provider.
• Documents all care and treatment provided to patients (height, weight), and performs Point‑of‑Care Testing via computerized documentation.
• Transports medications as necessary during patient transport within the institution, in compliance with medication security policy; ensures medication is delivered to authorized personnel per AAMC policy.
• Maintains adequate levels of supplies and equipment as defined by the unit, department, or initiative.

Educational/Experience Requirements

• HS Diploma or equivalent.

Required License / Certifications

• Certified Nursing Assistant through the Maryland Board of Nursing.
• American Heart Association for Healthcare Providers BLS.

Working Conditions, Equipment, Physical Demands

Employees in this position will be reasonably exposed to blood‑borne pathogens. Physical demands: heavy work, exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, or up to 50 pounds frequently, or up to 20 pounds constantly to move objects.

Pay Range

$17.50 — $26 USD per hour.
