Shift: Shift 3
Two 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM, with every third weekend and holiday rotations.
The Froedtert Hospital Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU-6NT), recipient of the Beacon Award for Excellence, is a high-energy, 26-bed critical care unit where the majority of MICU patients are severely ill and high acuity, requiring frequent nursing assessment and intervention. Specialty therapies may include: management of septic shock and multisystem organ failure, targeted temperature management, CRRT/CVVH, IL-2 infusions, rapid infusion for emergent fluid or blood replacement, medication desensitization, and flolan/remodulin infusions. The MICU unit culture is one of interdisciplinary collaboration, teamwork and comradery; we are a strong team dedicated to providing the finest quality ICU care for our patients and their families.
Job Summary:
The Critical Care Technician (CCT), under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse, provides delegated age appropriate care in a culturally and ethnically sensitive manner in the Critical Care Units. The CCT assists patients with the tasks outlined in their clinical competency assessment related to basic nursing skills, personal care skills, basic restorative services, and necessary critical care skills. The CCT practices and performs what was taught during their CNA training and certification or learned during basic nursing courses at an accredited school for professional nurses. The CCT may be asked to provide continuous safety observation. This job reports to the Nurse Manager/Assistant Nurse Manager of the assigned Critical Care Unit and the RNs on duty on each assigned shift. Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION DESCRIPTION:
High School diploma or equivalent is preferred.
TRAINING DESCRIPTION:
Completion of the Critical Care Tech course or equivalent within 6 months of date of hire is required.
LICENSURE DESCRIPTION:
State of Wisconsin Nursing Assistant Certification is required, otherwise must be currently enrolled in a nursing program and able to provide documentation from an accredited school for professional nurses indicating successful completion of the basic nursing course which encompasses all of the criteria noted by the State of Wisconsin administrative code and a minimum experience of one acute care medical/surgical clinical rotation. American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (BLS) or an AHA approved equivalent is required within 90 days of hire.
