Job summary

Intermountain Health seeks a Critical Care Technician to support the patient care team in the Critical Care and Emergency Department settings. You assist with vital signs, EKG duties, and patient transfers under supervision, ensuring safe care and timely documentation.

Eligible candidates include CNAs, EMTs/Paramedics, or Medical Assistants with BLS-HCP. The role emphasizes teamwork, infection control, and responsive service to patients and families in a high-acuity environment.

Qualifications

• Current CNA Certification in state of practice.
• EMT or Paramedic Certification in state of practice.
• Medical Assistant Certification from an accredited MA program or Intermountain Health affiliation.
• BLS-HCP certification upon hire.
• If doing Point of Care Testing: High School diploma or GED per CLIA rules.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Responds to patient care needs by answering call lights, assisting with hygiene care, obtaining vital signs, and communicating with the care team.
• Performs 12-lead EKG duties and other tasks within training and competency.
• Applies, checks, and documents restraints as directed by RN or physician.
• Assists with patient transfers, admissions, and discharges with safe handling.
• Orders and maintains office and floor stock and performs unit secretary duties.
• Reports and records patient care findings in a timely manner and secures help for changes in condition.
• Assists with emergency resuscitation and setup for line insertion and supplies retrieval.
• Provides excellent customer service to patients and families.
• Recognizes and completes unit and patient care needs with minimal supervision, collaborating with RNs.
• Adheres to infection prevention standards and Intermountain Health values.
