Job summary

Owensboro Health is seeking a Physician Assistant to support the adult intensive care unit within the Pulmonology Owensboro team. You will provide direct diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive care under physician supervision, focusing on critically ill adults in the ICU.

The role requires Kentucky PA licensure, NCCPA certification, and BLS/ACLS. You will participate in rounds, coordinate care across specialties, and assist with procedures and ventilator management.

Qualifications

• Licensed Physician Assistant in Kentucky with NCCPA certification.
• Current BLS and ACLS Certification.
• Ability to work in ICU/critical care settings.

Responsibilities

• Obtain patient history and perform assessments.
• Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic procedures.
• Provide treatment and management under prescriptive authority or referral as needed.
• Counsel and educate patients and families on prevention and treatment options.
• Document assessments and care plans accurately and timely.
• Assist with admissions, daily progress notes, and transfers from ICU.
• Coordinate care between medical specialties.
• Participate in morning rounds with the intensivist and ICU team.
• Assist with central/arterial line placement; chest tube placement and thoracentesis as needed.
• Assist with basic ventilator management.
• Perform critical care ultrasound procedures.
