Job summary

Inova Health is recruiting qualified Advanced Practice Providers to join the Medical Critical Care Service in Northern Virginia. You will work in an academic-leaning ICU, participate in daily rounds, and contribute to teaching for residents and fellows.

Roles include attending responsibilities and collaboration with physicians, nurses, and therapists. The position emphasizes strong credentialing, state licensure, and a commitment to high-quality patient care within a nationally recognized health

Qualifications

• Licensed Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner.
• RN compact license (depending on state of primary residence) and a license/eligibility as NP/PA in Virginia with a scope of practice agreement.
• Experience in critical care settings preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide ICU care as intensivist and attend rounds.
• Serve as attending of record for teaching service and participate in education meetings.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure best outcomes for critically ill patients.

Inova is looking for new providers to join our Medical Critical Care Service.

Schedule: rotating day/nights with weekend rotation and holidays.

Eastern Region: to include Inova Alexandria, Inova Mount Vernon and additional clinics in the surrounding area.

The Medical Critical Care Service (MCCS) is comprised of board-certified and hospital-employed critical care physicians, physician assistants and nurse practitioners who are dedicated to the academic mission at Inova.

The critical care physicians, also known as intensivists, conduct combined management and teaching rounds every day and serve as the attending of record for the majority of patients on the teaching service. These intensivists also administer the ICU house staff lecture series. The educational director for the rotation is a member of this group and attends monthly Inova Fairfax Hospital Department of Medicine academic meetings to ensure an outstanding experience for the house staff during the rotation.

Advance practice providers in this section treat patients who often require life support and attend multidisciplinary team which includes our physicians-in-training, physicians, nurses, pharmacists, respiratory therapists, physical therapists, dietitians, social workers among others. They also collaborate with physicians from other medical and surgical specialties to assure best possible outcomes of critically ill patients. We invite patients and family representatives to attend daily bedside rounds in order to facilitate communication, understanding, and participation in decision‑making.

Minimum Requirements

Certification - Basic Life Support prior to start; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (for Critical Care) upon start; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (for Pediatrics) upon start.

Licensure - Licensed Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner; If Nurse Practitioner: RN Compact License(depending on State of primary residence) AND a license (or eligibility for) as a nurse practitioner or physician assistant in the Commonwealth of Virginia AND a "Practice Agreement" signed by sponsoring/ supervising physician(s), AND a written "Scope of Practice/Protocol" signed by the supervising physician, AND "Drug Enforcement Administration License" (if prescribing controlled substances).

Experience - Prior Experience Required.

Education - For Nurse Practitioners: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing and Master's Degree in Advanced Clinical Practice or graduate of a post-masters certificate program for nurse practitioners, OR certificate from an education program that is accredited by the Council of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs/Schools, American College of Nurse Midwives, American Association of Colleges of Nursing of the National League for Nursing; For Physician Assistants: Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.

Payer Credentialing- Ability to successfully complete the credentialing process by third-party payors and Ability to enrolled as a CMS Medicare/Medicaid payor.

Medical Staff Credentialing- Successful completion of credentialing for Medical Staff membership and appropriate clinical privileges sufficient to perform all required services.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certified in critical care
• 3 years of experience as an advanced practice provider in a critical care setting
