Job summary

Highlands Community Services (HCS) in Abingdon, VA is seeking a Crisis Therapist to join our Crisis Services team. You will provide short-term therapy and immediate interventions for individuals facing mental health, behavioral, or substance use crises, focusing on rapid stabilization, risk assessment, and de-escalation.

Licensed-eligible clinicians receive weekly supervision toward licensure, with experience in evidence-based crisis intervention, stabilization, and trauma-informed care.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree eligible to seek Licensure for Supervision in Virginia or LPC, LCSW, LMFT.
  • Two years’ experience in behavioral health with one year of crisis experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide short-term therapy and immediate interventions for individuals in mental health, behavioral, and substance use crises.
  • Focus on rapid stabilization, risk assessment, de-escalation, and providing immediate support to high-distress individuals.
