Job Summary

Works in collaboration with a Physician and Community Support Specialists to assess the needs of the individual in crisis and to implement a plan of care. Provides mental health assessment, evaluation and counseling for consumers and families of consumers. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, crisis intervention, acute psychiatric therapy, coordination of outside referral and provision of planned education/growth experiences. The Crisis Team Therapist position will provide emergency services for any Hinds County resident. The Crisis Team Therapist position is 24/7 and may require coverage after hours, on weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work or a related field and experience as a clinician. Must be licensed or certified as a mental health professional or must be eligible for licensure or certification. If not currently licensed or certified, a Provisional Certification through the department of mental health (PCMHT) must be acquired and documentation presented to Human Resources within 90 days from hire date and (CMHT) must be obtained within to 2 years from the date of issuance. Requires flexibility regarding working conditions and assignments, good oral and written communication skills and thorough knowledge of psychiatric disorders and corresponding treatment. Employee must demonstrate ability to recognize consumers’ individual needs based on medical conditions, age (infants, pediatrics, adolescents, young adults, middle-aged and geriatric), limitations and planned procedures. Must have valid driver’s license in Mississippi and proof of auto insurance. This position has been determined to have an occasional or very low risk of occupational exposure to blood-borne pathogens.
