Job Title: Crisis Stabilization LVN/LPT - AM Division/Program: Irvine: Coastal Star Crisis Stabilization Unit Starting Compensation: 30.00 - 35.00 USD Per Hour Working Location: Irvine, CA Working Hours/Shift: 8 Hour AM Shift
Education & Licensure: Active, valid California Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) or Licensed Psychiatric Technician (LPT) license. Graduation from an accredited school of licensed vocational nursing or psychiatric technology. Associate degree preferred.
Experience: Minimum of one (1) year of experience with medication administration (Required). One (1) year of experience treating individuals with mental illness in an inpatient setting (Preferred).
Safety & Compliance: Must be 18 years of age or older. Current CPR certification. First Aid certification from an approved provider (such as the American Red Cross).
The LVN / LPT is responsible for providing direct client care, including medication administration and supervising the nursing activities of unit staff. Key duties include ordering, preparing, and documenting medications according to physician orders and confirming pharmacy deliveries. The role also requires communicating important information to the team, writing weekly client summaries as assigned, and maintaining accurate nursing documentation throughout the shift. This position also performs other related duties as needed.
Program: The Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU) is a place where people experiencing a mental health crisis can go to be stabilized. These facilities operate 24/7 to provide crisis stabilization.
Population Served: Up to 16 adults (ages 18 and up) and 8 adolescents (ages 13 to 17).
Facility & Setting: Can be compared to an Urgent Care Center where people often go for a medical emergency instead of going to the hospital ER. Patients may stay up to 23 hours.
Clinical Services: Provides important services to those in need of immediate crisis intervention and stabilization. Designed to prevent psychiatric hospitalizations.
Length of Stay: stay of up to 23 hours
Skills & Transition: The CSU will help clients to stabilize and will also provide referrals to other needed services. Transportation is provided as needed
