Job summary

Child & Family Service in Maui is seeking a Crisis Specialist II to provide community-based support, conduct intake, and develop individualized service plans for families and individuals referred from agencies or self-referral. SUMMARY OF DUTIES

Provides services to individuals and families who are referred to the program from external agencies, internal programs, or the self-referral process. Engages individuals/ families in services. Conducts intake/assessments and develops individualized service plans and goals. Teaches and provides information on a wide variety of topics, including child development, stress management, parenting, nurturing and family life as indicated by family identified risk issues and needs. Provides linkage to community resources. Assists participants, through advocacy or concrete help, to negotiate systems to receive needed services. Provides transportation to medical, legal and social service appointments as needed and after consultation with supervisor. Ensures that the referral source is aware of families who cannot be located or who refuse services. Performs administrative tasks related to caseload such as progress notes, IPPs/service plans, mileage and miscellaneous reports in a timely manner. Maintains participant confidentiality at all times. This role is for14 hours per week.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS

• Four-Year College Degree from a school accredited by a recognized accrediting agency, social work, psychology, or related field.
• Bachelor’s Degree in social work, psychology, or a related field from an accredited institution required

EXPERIENCE

• Over four years, up to and including six years

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

• Knowledge of child growth, development and behavior; positive parenting practices; case management and advocacy practices and techniques preferred.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work with families of diverse ethnic, cultural, and socio-economic backgrounds and gender/sexual orientation.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as required.
• Valid driver’s license, current no-fault insurance coverage, satisfactory driver’s abstract, access to an insured vehicle.

OTHER POSITION REQUIREMENTS

• This job requires a valid Hawaii driver's license and a clear driver's abstract and continued employment may be contingent on maintaining a clear driver’s abstract
