Job summary

Crisis Connections is seeking a compassionate 988 Crisis Specialist to provide chat and text support for individuals in crisis. This fully remote role serves residents of WA, AZ, OH, and TX, with day or swing shifts and a 30–37.5 hour workweek.

The position is union-represented and pays $26.79 per hour. You will assess risk, de-escalate, and coordinate with clinicians while documenting interactions and connecting people to resources.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED plus four (4) years of full-time behavioral health experience, or a combination of education and experience (Bachelor's degree 1 year Behavioral Health experience, Associate degree 2 years Behavioral Health experience)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask across multiple software platforms in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to remain focused and grounded during emotionally intense conversations
  • Agency Affiliated Counselor (AAC) credential required by the end of the probationary period. Crisis Connections will reimburse the cost of obtaining the credential.
  • Crisis intervention or suicide prevention experience
  • Behavioral health or contact center experience

Responsibilities

Job Type: Full-time role (4-5 days a week; 30 - 37.5 hours per weeks)

Work model: Fully Remote (candidates must reside in WA, AZ, OH, TX).

Pay rate: $26.79/hour

What You’ll Do

Requirements

Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED plus four (4) years of full-time behavioral health experience, or a combination of education and experience (Bachelor's degree 1 year Behavioral Health experience, Associate degree 2 years Behavioral Health experience)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask across multiple software platforms in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to remain focused and grounded during emotionally intense conversations

Preferred Experience
  • Knowledge of the King County and Washington State public mental health system
Technology & Work Environment
  • Must reside in Washington, Arizona, Ohio, or Texas
  • Reliable high-speed internet (wired connection require; no hotspots or satellite)
  • Smartphone capable of using Microsoft Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
  • Quiet, private workspace suitable for confidential conversations
  • Ability to sit and use a headset for extended periods
