RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a Crisis Professional to deliver rapid crisis evaluations and interventions within the Emergency Screening unit at One Robert Wood Johnson Place, New Brunswick, NJ.

You will work with ED clinicians to determine safe dispositions, provide immediate crisis support, and assist with discharge planning and care coordination for patients in psychiatric distress.

Formación

• Master's degree in psychology or related field with clinical crisis experience.
• Experience in psychiatric settings and emergency departments is preferred.
• Strong documentation and communication skills are essential.

Responsabilidades

• Perform face-to-face mental health and emergency crisis evaluations in the Emergency Department.
• Collaborate with nursing, physicians, and psychiatrists to determine safe dispositions.
• Provide onsite crisis intervention, treatment planning, and discharge planning.
• Manage hotline coverage and supervise patients in distress.
• Coordinate legal commitment processes through state screening centers when needed.
• Secure insurance pre-certifications for inpatient psychiatric admission.
• Connect patients with open beds and arrange follow-up mental health services.
• Arrive onsite within 30 minutes when on-call.

As a Crisis Professional, a typical day might include the following:

• Performing face-to-face mental health and emergency crisis evaluations for patients in the Emergency Department.
• Collaborating closely with the nursing team, emergency physicians, and psychiatrists to determine safe, appropriate patient dispositions.
• Providing immediate onsite crisis intervention, counseling, treatment planning, and comprehensive discharge planning.
• Managing hotline coverage and maintaining consistent monitoring and clinical supervision of patients in distress.
• Coordinating the legal commitment process seamlessly through designated state screening centers when acute care is necessary.
• Securing insurance pre-certifications for patients requiring inpatient psychiatric admission and facilitating safe medical transfers.
• Connecting voluntary patients with open beds, completing required documentation, and linking individuals to vital follow-up mental health services.
• Arriving onsite within 30 minutes of receiving an emergency call when serving in an on-call capacity.

To be considered for this opportunity, you must meet one of the following criteria:

• -Master's Degree and 1 year experience in psychiatric setting post masters
• -Master s program, 2 years post bachelors in psych, one year being in a crisis setting
• -Bachelor s degree, 3 years post bachelors in psych, one year being in a crisis setting
