Job summary

Compass Health in Mount Vernon, WA seeks a Crisis Peer Counselor to join the Mobile Crisis Outreach Team. You’ll provide peer support grounded in lived experience to individuals in crisis, promoting recovery and community connection within a multidisciplinary team.

Required WA CPSS (or CPSS-T) certification; a driver license is needed where applicable. This full-time role offers comprehensive benefits and opportunities for professional growth within the MCOT.

Qualifications

• Lived experience with behavioral health or substance use is required.
• Current WA CPSS certification is required; CPSS-T preferred.
• Must obtain Agency Affiliated Counselor status upon hire if not licensed.

Responsibilities

• Offer peer support grounded in lived experience with behavioral health or substance use challenges.
• Promote recovery, self-advocacy, and connection to community supports.
• Collaborate with clients and care teams to develop person-centered recovery goals.
• Assist clients in accessing mental health and chemical dependency treatment and resources.
• Advocate for client voice and ensure respect and validation of their experience.
• Monitor, document, and set treatment goals in partnership with the team.

About the Team

TheMobile Crisis Outreach Teamresponds directly to homes, schools, shelters, and other community locations to support adults, adolescents, and children facing behavioral health crises. We deliver strength-based, culturally responsive, trauma-informed interventions aimed at stabilization and prevention.

Requirements

• Lived experience with a behavioral health or substance use diagnosis (required).

• Current WA Certified Peer Support Specialist or CPSS-T certification.

• Experience as a peer support professional strongly preferred.

• Must obtainAgency Affiliated Counselorstatus upon hire if not currently licensed.

• Valid WA State driver’s license, vehicle, and insurance (if applicable).
