Truman Medical Center in Kansas City, MO seeks a Mental Health Therapist for the BH Crisis Center. The full-time role supports short-term stabilization and coordinated care for patients in the emergency/crisis setting.

You will work with the UH Behavioral Health team to assess needs, plan treatment, and connect individuals to ongoing services. Responsibilities include DSM-based assessments, crisis interventions, and collaboration with case managers to reduce barriers to treatment while ensuring

Qualifications

• Master's degree required in counseling, psychology, social work, family therapy, or related field.
• Missouri license options or working toward licensure required.
• If not licensed, begin licensure process on hire and follow supervision steps.
• Knowledge of mental health terms, diagnosis, and treatment approaches.
• Basic research skills and understanding of mental health theory and practice.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work well in a team.
• Good judgment, adaptability, and leadership qualities.
• Must complete onboarding training as assigned.
• If driving is part of your role, meet driving policy standards.

Responsabilités

• Conduct clinical screenings and risk assessments.
• Develop DSM-based diagnostic impressions.
• Provide crisis intervention when needed.
• Determine services and referrals per program criteria and needs.
• Collaborate with case manager to coordinate care.
• Address barriers to treatment and connect to community resources.
• Support engagement and transitions from emergency department to ongoing care.
• Coordinate with hospital staff and community partners to ensure appropriate use of crisis services.
