Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in criminalistics, chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology, or closely related physical science field; coursework must include forensic science, biochemistry, genetics, molecular biology.
• Possession of a valid California Driver’s License.
• Desirable qualifications include interest in forensic science, familiarity with serological and DNA analysis principles, and experience preparing scientific notes and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Examine evidence for presence of biological material.
• Perform chemical, microscopic, and genetic analyses of biological evidence.
• Prepare clear case notes and written reports of findings.
• Maintain and document chain-of-custody for evidence.
• Provide impartial court testimony regarding examinations performed.

Education

Bachelor's degree in criminalistics, chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology, or closely related physical science field

Course work in forensic science, biochemistry, genetics, molecular biology (9 semester hours)
