Primary Purpose
The Criminal Process Specialist performs clerical and administrative duties related to inmate processing. Responsibilities include notifying appropriate agencies of arrests, processing court and bond documentation, and completing tasks associated with inmate records. This position requires strict adherence to confidentiality and professional handling of sensitive information.
Education and Qualification Requirements
- Minimum: High School Diploma or Equivalency and 3-5 years’ related work experience
- Valid Florida Driver’s License
- Basic knowledge of general office equipment
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and SmartCop Programs
Duties
- Complete court updates, including Nolle Pros, dismissals, transfers, and sentences
- Verify the accuracy and validity of all court actions
- Reconcile transportation and court lists
- Serve as the primary contact for all correspondence from the courts and State Attorney’s Office
- Monitor all cases associated with the SIGHT program
- Review sentencing cases for compliance with F.S. 943.01, 775.3, 943.325, and 940.061
- Calculate jail time for all felony dockets
- Process special jail audit requests from the courts, Department of Corrections inmates, and attorneys
- Serve as the point of contact for Drug Court
- Place and monitor holds for all Probation Programs
- Prepare and deliver Restoration of Rights packets for sentenced defendants
- Ensure all updates and releases are promptly delivered for verification (second signature) and release
- Monitor court notifications for inmates serving weekend time
- Prepare daily bond transmittals and transport cash and checks to the courthouse
- Audit receipt books
- Follow up on fugitive-from-justice documentation
- Review arrest documents and paperwork related to First Appearance and weekend arrests
- Attend First Appearance to assist judiciary proceedings
- Complete all updates following First Appearance
- Monitor in-state holds
- Facilitate proceedings related to Immigration and Customs
- Follow up on Governor’s Warrants
- Serve as point of contact for the Parole Commission and Department of Corrections
- Process mail, including out-of-county arrest packets
- Manage all quality control changes
- Complete biannual audits
- Conduct weekly review of holds for active inmates and those checked out to other agencies
- Follow up on juvenile arrest notifications
- Review incoming teletypes
- Acknowledge courthouse emails
- Maintain copies of all arrest and bond transmittals
- Perform other duties as assigned

- Maintain continuity and operational efficiency by accurate and timely dissemination of information to Staff and co-workers
- Adhere to leave, overtime and attendance policies/procedures (i.e. arrive promptly, regular attendance at work, notification to supervisor regarding absence from work due to illness or untimely incidents, etc.)
