Job summary

California State University, Los Angeles (Cal State LA) invites applications for a 12-month Graduate Assistant in Criminal Justice. This role supports faculty through research, course materials preparation, tutoring, and student evaluation under supervision.

Hours per week can be up to 20 per semester. Applicants must be enrolled in a Cal State LA graduate program and pursue the Master’s track in the Department of School of Criminal Justice and Criminalistics.

Qualifications

• Degree-seeking graduate student in the Department School of Criminal Justice and Criminalistics.
• Graduate Assistant must be currently enrolled in or admitted to a Cal State LA graduate degree program.
• Ability to relate well with others within the academic environment and have the ability or potential to learn how to instruct and evaluate students.
• Demonstrate commitment to working effectively with faculty, staff and students from diverse ethnic, cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional non-teaching assistance to faculty member.
• Provide research assistance and practical experience in fields related to their advanced study.
• Assisting with handling/or training other student in the use of equipment or other resources.
• Assisting faculty with research and preparation of course materials.
• Participate in evaluation of students work.
• Tutoring students.
