Job summary

Intervention, Inc. in Colorado is hiring a Criminal Justice Case Manager (Spanish Speaking) to provide caseload management for probation clients, including non-English speakers, using behavioral change techniques and strict monitoring.

You will explain probation terms, develop case plans, maintain records, coordinate with courts and agencies, and travel to jail or court as needed. The role is full-time, Monday to Friday, 8-5 in Brighton, CO, with benefits and PSLF eligibility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, psychology, social work, counseling, or related field.
• Substitution: work experience in counseling, social work, law enforcement, corrections or community supervision may replace the degree.
• Bilingual communication in English and Spanish.
• Ability to develop assessments and case plans.
• Data entry and reporting across software/databases.
• Remain calm in stressful situations.
• Knowledge of cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of the client population.
• Ability to work as a team member or independently with staff and clients.
• Must pass background check and state criminal databases access.
• Motivational interviewing experience within 1 year.

Responsibilities

OVERVIEW

Provides case management for a caseload of general probation, non-English speaking or English as a second language clients to help them successfully complete probation by applying appropriate behavioral change techniques while providing supervision and monitoring compliance according to Intervention policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Support, promote and adhere to the mission, values and Code of Conduct of Intervention Inc.

• Maintain confidentiality of client and company information.
• Carry out all duties/responsibilities in accordance with Company values, policies and procedures, applicable laws and contractual obligations.
• Maintain complete, accurate and timely case file, both paper and electronic, for each client on caseload.
• Perform assessments/reassessments as required.
• Develop individualized supervision case plan for each client based upon established protocols.
• Detail and explain verbally to the client, the client’s probation conditions and case plan to ensure the client understands his/her responsibilities, court orders and expectations.
• Meet with client per policy to evaluate progress in accomplishing case plan and probation terms, administer rewards and sanctions according to established policies and procedures.
• Document all direct and collateral contacts with all clients.
• Conduct orientation meetings with new clients and explain program rules and regulations.
• Assess and collect client fees.
• Enter client data into electronic database accurately, timely and completely.
• Report all program violations to the referral agency via the established Intervention policies.
• Complete all written reports concerning clients in an accurate, legible and timely manner. Prior to sending any reports to the courts or referral agency approval must be given by a supervisor.
• Refers clients to community resources as appropriate.
• Monitor drug and alcohol tests as required.
• Work with courts, probation and criminal justice agencies regarding client staffing/compliance.
• Travel to the jail to meet with clients.
• Provide own transportation to travel to court, jail and/or other sites as required, including in adverse weather.
• Testify in court regarding client compliance.
• Attend required trainings and meetings; apply skills and information.
• Regular and predictable attendance.
• Bilingual Case Managers will be expected to hold a caseload of clients that are non-English speaking or speak English as a second language.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) from accredited four-year college or university in criminal justice, psychology, social work, counseling, a social science or other closely related field.
• SUBSTITUTION FOR EDUCATION: Work experience in the areas of counseling, social work, law enforcement, corrections or community supervision which provided the same kind, amount, and level of knowledge acquired in the required education, will substitute on a year-for-year basis for the bachelor's degree.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with a variety of constituents, in both English and Spanish.
• Ability to complete assessments and develop case plans.
• Ability to enter data, generate reports and create communications from variety of software programs and databases.
• Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
• Knowledge of the cultural and socioeconomic characteristics and appropriate techniques and practices for the client population.
• Ability to interact effectively as a team member and independently with Company staff, stakeholders, and with diverse client base.
• Must pass background check and be granted access to state criminal databases.
• Demonstrated experience in Motivational Interviewing required within 1 year.
