Job summary

Intervention, Inc. in Boulder, CO seeks a Criminal Justice Case Manager to support probation clients under our program. You will conduct assessments, develop case plans, and document progress while coordinating with courts and community resources.

Qualifications

• Ability to enter data, generate reports and use multiple databases.
• Remain calm in stressful situations with cultural sensitivity.
• Team player who can also work independently.
• Must pass background check and have access to state criminal databases.
• Motivational Interviewing experience preferred within 1 year.

Responsibilities

• Provide case management for a caseload of general probation clients to help them complete probation.
• Explain probation conditions and case plans to clients to ensure understanding.
• Meet with clients to evaluate progress and administer rewards and sanctions.
• Maintain confidential case files and timely written reports for courts or referrals.
• Document all direct and collateral contacts in the electronic database.
• Refer clients to community resources as appropriate.
• Monitor drug and alcohol tests as required.
• Coordinate with courts, probation and criminal justice agencies; travel to jail to meet clients.
• Provide transportation to court, jail and other sites as required; testify in court when needed.
• Attend trainings and meetings and maintain regular attendance.

OVERVIEW

Provides case management for a caseload of general probation clients to help them successfully complete probation, by applying appropriate behavioral change techniques while providing supervision and monitoring compliance according to Intervention policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Support, promote and adhere to the mission, values and Code of Conduct of Intervention Inc.

• Maintain confidentiality of client and company information.
• Carry out all duties/responsibilities in accordance with Company values, policies and procedures, applicable laws and contractual obligations.
• Maintain complete, accurate and timely case file, both paper and electronic, for each client on caseload.
• Perform assessments/reassessments as required.
• Develop individualized supervision case plan for each client based upon established protocols.
• Detail and explain verbally to the client, the client’s probation conditions and case plan to ensure the client understands his/her responsibilities, court orders and expectations.
• Meet with client per policy to evaluate progress in accomplishing case plan and probation terms, administer rewards and sanctions according to established policies and procedures.
• Document all direct and collateral contacts with all clients.
• Conduct orientation meetings with new clients and explain program rules and regulations.
• Assess and collect client fees.
• Enter client data into electronic database accurately, timely and completely.
• Report all program violations to the referral agency via the established Intervention policies.
• Complete all written reports concerning clients in an accurate, legible and timely manner. Prior to sending any reports to the courts or referral agency approval must be given by a supervisor.
• Refers clients to community resources as appropriate.
• Monitor drug and alcohol tests as required.
• Work with courts, probation and criminal justice agencies regarding client staffing/compliance.
• Travel to the jail to meet with clients.
• Provide own transportation to travel to court, jail and/or other sites as required, including in adverse weather.
• Testify in court regarding client compliance.
• Attend required trainings and meetings; apply skills and information.
• Regular and predictable attendance.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) from accredited four-year college or university in criminal justice, psychology, social work, counseling, a social science or other closely related field.
• SUBSTITUTION FOR EDUCATION: Work experience in the areas of counseling, social work, law enforcement, corrections or community supervision which provided the same kind, amount, and level of knowledge acquired in the required education, will substitute on a year-for-year basis for the bachelor's degree.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with a variety of constituents.
• Ability to complete assessments and develop case plans.
• Ability to enter data, generate reports and create communications from variety of software programs and databases.
• Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
• Knowledge of the cultural and socioeconomic characteristics and appropriate techniques and practices for the client population.
• Ability to interact effectively as a team member and independently with Company staff, stakeholders, and with diverse client base.
• Must pass background check and be granted access to state criminal databases.
• Demonstrated experience in Motivational Interviewing required within 1 year.
