Job summary

The Office of the Colorado State Public Defender in Colorado is seeking an Investigator I to learn and perform essential defense investigations under supervision, supporting attorneys throughout cases.

This role requires Colorado residency on day one, a valid driver’s license, and frequent travel within the state. Strong written and oral communication, ethics, and attention to detail are essential to protect client rights.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in listed fields.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Valid driver's license and access to a working vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Organizes and prepares case files for investigations and tracks case information.
• Prepares for investigations and witness interviews; gathers relevant information.
• Collaborates with attorneys to establish defense strategy.
• Maintains regular communications with attorneys and tracks court dates.
• Develops documentation and maintains ethical standards in work.
