The role involves meeting with clients, researching legal matters, and representing clients at pretrial hearings. You will coordinate with prosecutors and courts to negotiate plea agreements and assist with appeals as needed.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
• No prior experience required; on‑the‑job training provided.
• Ability to discuss pending charges and develop defense strategies.

Responsibilities

• Meet with and/or speak with clients via telephone and in person to discuss pending charges and to develop defense strategies
• Conduct legal and factual research to achieve the best possible result
• Attend pretrial hearings in person, by phone, or remote, and advise clients on plea offers
• Conference with prosecutors to negotiate and complete plea agreements
• Communicate with courts to reset pretrial hearings and finalize plea agreements
• Appeal to county courts when necessary
• Assist clients with executing plea bargains and other agreements with county and district attorneys
• Advise clients about the impact of accepted plea agreements on their future
• Provide on-going collaboration with attorneys and staff in a team environment
