Job summary

California Department of Justice in Sacramento is seeking a Crime Analyst I to establish and coordinate the laboratory’s evidence control system, review case information, and maintain chain of custody across submitted items. The role involves in-office work with a standard 8am–5pm schedule.

You will use law enforcement databases to support forensic operations in the Bureau of Forensic Services, Toxicology Laboratory, and will report to a Criminalist Manager or Supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Establish and coordinate the operations of the laboratory’s evidence control system.
• Utilize law enforcement database systems to perform technical and analytical duties for BFS.
• Receive and evaluate submission of case evidence.
• Review, process and research associated case information.
• Establish and ensure the accuracy of the chain of custody for each submitted evidence item.
• Monitor and maintain the laboratory’s evidence storage areas.
• Process property information.
