Job summary

Le Moyne College seeks a Crime Analyst to work on-site at the Syracuse Police Department Crime Analysis Center, supporting area law enforcement in tracking and reducing Part I Crime.

The role involves researching data, performing statistical and spatial analyses, preparing reports, and possibly testifying in court. Evening/weekend shifts are required; strong communication and crime-analytic skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, criminology, public administration, or related field.
• 0-1 year experience in criminology or related field.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.
• Communication with police ranks and agencies may be necessary.
• Knowledge of the criminal justice process.
• Experience with databases, spreadsheets, statistical computing, and/or GIS is desired.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of research and analytical tasks.
• Collect, compile, validate, interpret, and analyze data and trends using standard practices.
• Perform statistical, spatial, and/or qualitative analyses using standard software.
• Work on moderately complex assignments under supervision.
• Prepare and deliver reports and presentations of analytic results and may testify in court.
• Provide crime analysis and criminal intelligence support to law enforcement.
• Any other relevant duties as assigned.
• Flexibility to work evening/weekend shifts.
