Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office is seeking a Crime Analyst to join the Bureau of Investigations, reporting to a Lieutenant of Inspectors. You will collect and analyze criminal intelligence data to identify crime patterns, predict trends, and support investigations and prosecutions.

The position in this classification is located in the District Attorney’s Office Bureau of Investigations, reporting to a Lieutenant of Inspectors. The incumbent in this class is a non-sworn employee who works closely with attorneys, legal assistants, and investigative personnel to accomplish the mission of the District Attorney’s Office.
Crime Analysts are responsible for collecting and analyzing criminal intelligence data to determine crime patterns and predict future crime trends. Incumbents work as an integral part of Investigative teams to help identify suspects and leads and provide investigative support for criminal prosecution. Assigned work involves extensive and critical reading of incident reports, supplements, and forensic reports, using internal and external data sources to mine crime and suspect information. This position requires initiative, independent judgment, and decision-making skills.
The Sheriff's Office may also use the eligible list from this recruitment to fill future vacancies as well.

Possession of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in criminal justice, science, social science, mathematics or a closely related field.
Two (2) years full time experience in a law enforcement related field which included the collection, compilation and analysis of crime data
Possession of a master’s degree in the field of study noted above may be substituted for one (1) year of the required experience.
The Human Resources Department may change the examination steps noted above in accordance with the Personnel Management Regulations and accepted selection practices.
