Job summary

Teknor Apex is seeking a full-time supervisor at our Brownsville, TN site. The role oversees Utility Operator, Unit Operator, Blender Operator, Compounder, and Console Operator, ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency on the manufacturing floor.

You will lead line breaks, coordinate maintenance, and drive 5S housekeeping and daily huddle discussions. Requires a high school diploma or GED and a valid driver’s license, with overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

• To supervise Utility Operator, Unit Operator, Blender Operator, Compounder, Console Operator.
• Inspect cleanouts to make sure standards are met.
• Gives breaks on lines as needed; plan breaks to limit breaks by crewleaders.
• Help Supervisor with quality problems and lead 5 Why root cause investigations.
• Get maintenance when there is a mechanical problem and plan for quick restarts.
• Fill in for supervisor when he is absent.
• Blender Crewleader: Pump resin from rail car into resin silos (2nd and 3rd shift).
• Fill in for Unit Operator when one is absent and develop plans to cover more than one line with the team.
• Plan and lead discussion in huddle meetings.
• Daily quality and safety walkthroughs and provide immediate directions to the team.
• Maintain current online status and operator activities and assignments.
• Assist with housekeeping and ensure 5S standards are met.

Job description

General Function:

• This role is a full-time position within our site where we have a team approach to manufacturing. Timely and Regular attendance is crucial to your success and the safety of the team.
• There is mandatory overtime associated with the role depending upon the needs of the business because, with team-based manufacturing, production areas must be manned for worker safety and may continue beyond the end of a scheduled shift or may require additional overtime hours outside of normal shift schedule.

• Inspect cleanouts to make sure standards are met.
• Gives breaks on lines as needed. This should include working on plans that minimize the need for crewleaders giving breaks.
• Help Supervisor with quality problems. This includes effectively leading a 5 why root cause investigation.
• Get maintenance when there is a mechanical problem and have a plan for quick restarts.
• Fill in for supervisor when he is absent.
• Blender Crewleader: Pump resin from rail car into resin silos’ (2nd and 3rd shift only).
• Fill in for Unit Operator when one is absent and can’t get anyone to come in early. For blender loading, develop plans, when possible, to use the team to cover more than one line.
• Helping with housekeeping, making sure everyone keeps his or her area clean meeting both daily and shift housekeeping assignments. This includes making sure all 5S standards are met.
• Plan and lead discussion in huddle meetings.
• Daily conduct quality and safety walkthroughs and give team immediate directions.
• Stay current online status and operator activities and assignments.
