Job summary

Helix Traffic Solutions, in partnership with PSG Traffic Services, seeks a Traffic Control Flagger Crew Lead to direct crews in safe configurations around construction zones, accidents, and disruptions. You will oversee flagger operations, ensure compliance with traffic control plans, and maintain safety guidelines in outdoor conditions across the Carolinas region.

The role emphasizes leadership, training, and documentation, with opportunities for advancement within the Helix Traffic Solutions

Qualifications

3–6 months of prior experience as a Traffic Control Flagger or Crew Lead required.
ATSSA Flagger Certification (or company-approved equivalent) required; First Aid/CPR certification preferred.
Demonstrated leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

Lead and direct traffic control crews to ensure safe work zones per approved plans.
Train, mentor, and assign crew members while promoting safe practices and efficiency.
Oversee installation, maintenance, and removal of traffic control devices (signs, cones, barricades).
Monitor work zones for safety hazards, respond to changing conditions, and report issues.
Complete required documentation of crew activities, equipment usage, and incidents.
Perform Traffic Control Flagger duties as needed.
Maintain required certifications (ATSSA Flagger, First Aid/CPR preferred).

Job Summary

The Traffic Control Flagger Crew Lead is responsible for directing the flow of traffic around construction zones, maintenance projects, accidents or other temporary traffic disruption areas while overseeing a team of Traffic Control Flaggers. This role ensures the safety of workers, motorists, and pedestrians by maintaining proper traffic control and following all safety guidelines and regulations. Hires must remain in good standing throughout the 60-day probationary period and successfully complete Crew Lead evaluations

Key Responsibilities

Lead and direct traffic control crews to ensure work zones are set up safely and in accordance with approved traffic control plans.
Train, mentor, and assign crew members while promoting safe work practices and operational efficiency.
Oversee the installation, maintenance, and removal traffic control devices, including signs, cones, and barricades.
Monitor work zones for safety hazards, respond to changing conditions, and report incidents equipment issues, or safety concerns.
Complete required documentation, including crew activities, equipment usage, and incident reports.
Perform Traffic Control Flagger duties as needed.
Maintain required certifications, including ATSSA Flagger Certification (or company-approved equivalent). First Aid/CPR certification is preferred.

Experience: 3-6 months prior experience as a Traffic Control Flagger or Crew Lead required.

Skills And Competencies

Demonstrated leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Knowledge of traffic control procedures, safety regulations, and work zone best practices.
Ability to make sound decisions in fast-paced, changing environments.
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and remain standing or walking for extended periods (8-12 hours).
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform the physical demands of the role.
