Job summary

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent and a formal mortuary program as required by state law, plus 1–3 months of apprenticeship.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Completion of a formal funeral service or mortuary science program as required by state law.
• Minimum 1–3 months experience as an apprentice.
• Certification as a Crematory Operator as required by state law; valid driver’s license if removals/deliveries are performed.
• Strong communication, compassion and integrity; ability to multi task.

Responsibilities

• Care for deceased in a respectful manner during cremation process.
• Receive remains, ensure documentation and visual identification are complete.
• Complete cremation process documentation and equipment maintenance.
• Follow licensing regulations and company policies.
• Maintain logs and state reports; ensure chain of custody paperwork.
• Deliver or release cremated remains to appropriate funeral home or authorities.
• Maintain crematorium and equipment and ensure safety procedures.
• Perform other duties as directed by management.
