Job summary

Shaw Industries is seeking a Creeler to maintain a constant supply of yarn to the creel and support efficient weaving operations.

The role involves loading yarn, checking lot numbers, splicing, keeping creel clean, and reporting maintenance needs. Ability to read yarn lot identifiers, color recognition, and basic math are required. This is a full-time, on-site position on a non-rotating evening shift.

Qualifications

• Must read and write with basic math skills.
• Must recognize conformance vs nonconformance.
• Must distinguish colors and read yarn lot numbers.
• Adequate depth perception required.

Responsibilities

• Check lot numbers to ensure correct lot is running.
• Hang and splice yarn in creel, spotting, doubling and cutting back.
• Remove exhausted tubes from creel; place caps on running packages.
• Maintain yarn level and creel cleanliness throughout the shift.
• Prepare boxes and tubes for removal from creel.
• Guide LTO in loading cases or boxes.
• Remove unusable tubes and report disposition.

Position Objective: To maintain a constant supply of yarn to the creel.

Essential Duties

• Check lot numbers to ensure that the correct lot is running
• Hang and splice in yarn in creel, i.e. spotting, doubling and cutting back the creel.
• Remove exhausted tubes from creel.
• Place tube caps on running packages.
• Maintain the yarn level and cleanliness of the creel throughout the shift.
• Make preparations for boxes and tubes to be removed from creel.
• Guide LTO in loading cases or boxes.
• Remove all tubes of yarn in the creel or work area that appears to be unusable and follow procedures for disposition
• Perform a walk through of assigned creel at the beginning of the shift or when moved to a new creel to check overall condition of creel.
• Replace any missing eyelets or tie downs.
• Identify and report any maintenance needed at the creel and tag with pink ribbon.
• Load yarn into the creel
• Responsible for properly identifying non-conforming yarn.

Requirements
